the learning trifecta for coaches


 Implementing practices in The Learning Trifecta is a multifaceted endeavor that requires strategic support from school and district coaches. 


Overarching Objectives:

      

  • Ensure teachers have a deep understanding of the principles and importance of teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning
  • Provide strategies, tools, resources and examples that illustrate effective teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning practices
  • Design and deliver professional development sessions that support teachers with teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning
  • Encourage and support professional learning communities (PLC) collaborative planning sessions where teachers align learning intentions and success criteria to opportunities for student discussion and high-level questioning
  • Model effective teacher clarity strategies in classroom settings, allowing teachers to observe and learn.
  • Offer coaching sessions to help teachers refine their understanding and implementation of teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning
  • Assist teachers in collecting and analyzing teacher clarity evidence to evaluate the impact of teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning practices.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where teachers feel comfortable experimenting with and discussing teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning practices.

  

 The Learning Trifecta for Coaches Pathways 


  The Learning Trifecta for Coaches is designed to be a multiple day workshop. The Learning Trifecta Pathways for Coaches does not include a learning walk component. Coaches are included in the school leadership team learning walks that are part of The Learning Trifecta for Leaders professional learning. 


The Learning Trifecta for Coaches Pathway 1 


Learning Intention:  Coaches will learn how to support teachers with implementing key elements of The Learning Trifecta. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can identify key components of teacher clarity, student discussion, and high-level questioning.
  • I can explain the interconnectedness of teacher clarity, student discussion, and high-level questioning.
  • I can explain the process to unwrap a standard.
  • I can explain the steps involved in creating a learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can evaluate the quality of a learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can determine ways to support teachers with evidence collection and analysis for teacher clarity.

The Learning Trifecta for Coaches Pathway 2

Learning Intention:  Coaches will learn how to support teachers with implementing key elements of The Learning Trifecta. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can identify the tools and resources teachers use to interact with the learning intention and success criteria and promote robust student discussion.
  • I can provide tools and resources to build interaction with the learning intention and success criteria and facilitate robust student discussion.
  • I can provide coaching on the strategies teachers use to build student interaction with the learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can determine ways to support teachers with evidence collection and analysis for teacher clarity and student discussion.

The Learning Trifecta for Coaches Pathway 3


Learning Intention: Coaches will learn how to support teachers with implementing key elements of The Learning Trifecta. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can differentiate between various types of questions based on depth of knowledge.
  • I can identify questions that provoke higher-order thinking and stimulate intellectual curiosity.
  • I can provide coaching on the strategies teachers use to incorporate high-level questioning into student discussion.
  • I can provide coaching to teachers that supports implementation of teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning.
  • I can determine ways to support teachers with evidence collection and analysis for teacher clarity, student discussion and high-level questioning.
  • I can evaluate instruction to coach student engagement with learning intentions and success criteria, student discussion, and high-level questioning techniques.
