 Let's Talk Teacher Clarity for Coaches is a multifaceted endeavor that requires strategic support from school and district leaders. 

Overarching Objectives:

  • Ensure teachers have a deep understanding of the principles and importance of teacher clarity and provide resources and examples that illustrate effective teacher clarity practices.
  • Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on creating and utilizing learning intentions and success criteria.
  • Encourage and support professional learning community (PLC) collaborative planning sessions where teachers can develop and align learning intentions and success criteria to student learning experiences.
  • Model effective teacher clarity strategies in classroom settings, allowing teachers to observe and learn.
  • Offer coaching sessions to help teachers refine their understanding and implementation of teacher clarity.
  • Assist teachers in collecting and analyzing teacher clarity evidence to evaluate the impact of teacher clarity practices.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where teachers feel comfortable experimenting with and discussing teacher clarity practices.

  

  Teacher Clarity for Coaches Pathways


 Let’s Talk Teacher Clarity for Coaches is designed to be a multiple day workshop. The Teacher Clarity Pathways for Coaches does not include a learning walk component because coaches would be included in the school leadership team learning walks that are part of the Teacher Clarity for Leaders professional learning. 


Teacher Clarity for Coaches Pathway 1


Learning Intention: Coaches will learn how to support teachers with the foundational elements of teacher clarity. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can define teacher clarity.
  • I can identify the key components of teacher clarity.
  • I can explain the process to unwrap a standard.
  • I can explain the steps involved in creating a learning intention.
  • I can explain how to use a learning intention to create success criteria.

Teacher Clarity for Coaches Pathway 2

Learning Intention: Coaches will learn how to support teachers with the use of learning intentions and success criteria in the classroom. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can evaluate the quality of a learning intention.
  • I can evaluate the quality of success criteria.
  • I can provide teachers with coaching on the learning intention.
  • I can provide teachers with coaching on the success criteria.
  • I can create a process to coach teacher clarity.
  • I can determine connections between the learning intention and success criteria and instruction in the classroom.

Teacher Clarity for Coaches Pathway 3


Learning Intention: Coaches will learn how to support teachers with leveraging learning intentions and success criteria in the classroom. 


Success Criteria:

  • I can identify strategies teachers can use to build student interaction with the learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can provide teachers with strategies to build student interaction with the learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can provide coaching on the strategies teachers use to build student interaction with the learning intention and success criteria.
  • I can determine connections between the learning intention and success criteria and feedback in the classroom.
  • I can determine ways to support teachers with evidence collection and analysis for teacher clarity.
